EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Expressions of Interest to participate in Music Feast 2013 will be open soon. This year’s Feast will run from Wednesday 18 – Sunday 29 September.
Performance opportunities in 2013 include; music events in our local music venues and other cultural spaces during Music Feast dates; music events that will be presented in our Northcote Town Hall, and an exciting new Festival Hub Bar and Street Activation curated program strand.
Performance opportunities details are as follows:
Northcote Town Hall Shows – bookers, agents and artists wishing to put on a show at the Northcote Town Hall must register their interest via a Northcote Town Hall Expression of Interest (EOI) form. These shows must be fully formed, if you are an individual act looking to be added to a bill, we cannot assist you. Northcote Town Hall Show EOI forms will be available here soon and will close by the end of June. Shows put on in the Northcote Town Hall receive the provision of some technical staff, a PA, staging, lighting, seating and ticket sales management. Music Feast does not pay performance fees, applicants are expected to sell tickets to these shows in order to cover presentation costs. The Northcote Town Hall performance spaces to choose from are the Main Hall, Studio 1 or Studio 2.
See the Northcote Town Hall website for details.
Application outcomes for Northcote Town Hall shows will be advised in the first week of July, this will give unsuccessful applicants time to seek an alternative venue for possible inclusion via the Venue Show program strand. Successful applicants will be required to pay a $50 administration fee.
Venue Shows – bookers, agents and artists must approach our local music venues directly to request that they book an act during Music Feast. Artists playing at these venues (and the venues themselves) are then responsible for registering the show with Music Feast for inclusion in the on-line and printed program. Venue Show Registration forms will be available here soon and will close by the end of July. No registration fee applies.
Expression of Interest and Venue Show Registration forms will be posted here by Friday, 24 May 2013.
LOOKING BACK AT 2012
After 18 days of musical feasting residents, performers and punters alike are rubbing their bellies and raising their glasses to a highly successful 2012 Music Feast. Boasting record numbers and full houses, young and old were treated to a diverse platter of mouth-watering performances including some of the best contemporary folk, alt, rock, jazz, gypsy, world and country music on offer.
Music Feast is one of Melbourne’s most musically and culturally diverse festivals, reflecting Darebin’s eclectic population. It is known for its quirky, grass roots vibe and in 2012 showcased some of the less common styles of music including Argentinean tango, psychobilly, cross-cultural chanting, hard rubbish orchestras, experimental noise, burlesque, tongue in cheek Lithuanian folk music, political musical comedy, sea shanties and Indigenous bogan cabaret.
